In 1972 while at the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad, John originated the concept which is the basis for modern container train service. Container service is now an important source of business for all Class 1 railroads. John also played a critical role in developing the rate structure that led to the significant volume of trailer and container load movements by Intermodal Marketing Companies over the BNSF, UP, CSX, & NS Railroads.
